5 Mistakes You’re Making With Your Wedding Planning

#1  You haven’t discussed your Wedding Budget openly

Your wedding budget can be a sensitive topic, but it doesn’t need to be. Whether you are wanting to spend $20,000 on your special day or $300,000 we completely understand. Every couple is at a different stage of their life and has completely different values. However avoiding discussing your budget openly with you partner and Planner or Stylist can cause stress later on in the planning process by not budgeting properly for all of your vendors.

#2  You’re Planning for your guests instead of yourself

This is a common mistake that most couples don’t even realise they are making. From styling through to catering choices and the minor details your wedding day is all about the two of you, and it is important that you see it as a party to celebrate your love. The worst thing you can do is look back on your special day and wish that you should have done it differently.

#3  You aren’t being organised with your planning

Wedding Planning can be overwhelming not knowing where to start and what to do, especially if you don’t have any guidance. A common mistake we see a lot of brides doing is making purchases for miscellaneous items before they even book their ceremony and reception venues(s). By focusing on booking various vendors at the wrong times you can miss out on the key ingredients to making your special day flow. No matter who you are and what you do the only way you can get through planning a wedding successfully is to be organised with a planning timeline and a budget management plan.

#4  You aren’t choosing your vendors properly

Most Brides will send out several emails to wedding vendors to get an idea of price and the packages they offer. This is completely understandable as it can be hard not knowing what every vendor offers if you don’t do your research. However when it comes down to choosing your vendors a lot of brides tend to be bias based on price. This is totally fine if you have met with this vendor, think they are great and love their work, however we would never recommend making a decision from paper. Before you book any vendor make sure you ask yourself if they are your perfect match. Doing this will help create good relationships, which will in turn create vendors that will work even harder to create your perfect day. Also keeping in mind that if you love a vendor and have a smaller budget- why not ask what they can do for your budget, this way you won’t have to compromise your favourites.

#5  You’re not having fun planning

Wedding Planning should be fun, but unfortunately there has been a significant number of couples that have reported their relationship was extremely tense when they planned their wedding. If you have started planning your wedding and are finding that sourcing several vendors and comparing packages after work hours just isn’t for you its time to get help. If you are worried about price a lot of wedding planners will offer you a consultation at a small fee to discuss any issues you may be having or most offer partial planning packages to take care of the elements you don’t want to take care of. So make sure you enjoy every second and if it becomes too much, be sure to get some help and guidance.
