Are Wedding Planner’s Worth it?

One of the biggest questions a lot of Australian Brides ask is whether having a Wedding Planner is worth it. In this post we are going to dig a little bit deeper and give you an unbiased answer about what Wedding Planners actually do and if they are really worth it.

The Truth about Wedding Planners

TRUTH: A lot of people think that wedding planning is a glamorous job and that it is very easy.

FACT: Like every other industry it has its ups and it’s downs. Planning a wedding can seem easy, however if you do not have the skill set of being organised, possessing good budget management skills, have time management skills, styling skills or have an understanding of the industry and the 10-20 vendors that you require it can be very stressful, overwhelming and not to mention time consuming.

What do Wedding Planners actually do

A good wedding planner should get to know you personally and understand everything you want for your big day. They should also know how to work your visions into your wedding budget. As the average wedding takes 100+ hours of planning we take that off your hands, get all of the quotes and negotiate prices and packages with vendors that are suited to your style and budget. We would then present these options to you in a less complicated format that would save you going back and fourth through several vendor packages and emails. Then we would set up all of your meetings and send you reminders for appointments and payments leaving you only having to deal with one person. In the final month we would make sure that everything has been finalised and prepare an in depth itinerary to ensure that everything runs according to plan which is essential for you to gain the most out of your vendors.

Are all Wedding Planners the same?

To be honest every wedding planning company is different. Some take commission from vendors, others give the vendor discount to the bride and groom and some only give you one option for each vendor and others give you several. Some Wedding Planners only work with certain styles of weddings and others work with every style. The main thing we do all have in common is that we all work very hard and ridiculous hours to fit in with our couples and all of our vendors schedules as well as trying to be contactable most of the time to relieve any nerves.

Would it be worth you hiring a Wedding Planner?

If you and your partner both work full time, you have no knowledge of the industry and have never planned or styled an event before it would be a very wise decision, especially if you do not want to spend every night for several months looking up vendors and comparing quotes and packages.

Guidelines to hiring a wedding planner: For a full Wedding Planning package a lot of Wedding Planners would suggest that you have a starting budget between $30,000-50,000 however if you have already hired a few vendors and your budget is less most wedding planners also offer partial planning packages which can reduce the price.

So in answer to the question a good Wedding Planner that you get along with and is organised would definitely make your wedding planning much easier and would definitely be worth it.
