After years of planning weddings there are certain questions that we have found a lot of brides ask us. If I listed them all, you would probably be so busy reading these that you miss your own wedding. So, for the sake of your happily ever after, we have shared the five most common questions about wedding planning and their answers, to help you plan your wedding.

What do I need to include on my invitations?

This question has got to be one of the most asked questions of all time – right after “What is the meaning of life?” and “Why is the sky blue?”. Just kidding! But jokes aside, there are a few key details that are absolutely crucial to include on your invitations to ensure your guests know when and where they need to be on your wedding day. The most important details to include are:

• The names of the bride and groom
• Wedding date
• The address of the ceremony and reception (if different venues)
• The start time of the ceremony and reception (or simply “reception to follow”)
• The RSVP details (date and method/contact details)
• Optional: dress code, gift information, transport, guest accommodation

How much will our wedding cost?

If I’m honest, this question is like asking how long is a piece of string. The total cost of a wedding can vary enormously depending on the couple, their vision for their wedding and the budget that they have. Let’s be real – if you only have $10,000 for your wedding, than your wedding is most likely going to cost around $10,000. But if you are dreaming of an elaborate wedding with 200 guests and a helicopter entrance (we’ve done it before!), than you could be looking at more like $50,000. The cost of your wedding comes down to the decisions you make and what you would like your wedding to include.

What do we need to have at our wedding?

I love answering this question because the answer is often not expected. The truth is, a lot of the things you might have thought you needed to include at your wedding, are not actually a requirement. This is your day, so you can make it your own. Aside from a few necessary components of the ceremony that you need to include in order to be legally married, the rest of the day is up to you. Sure, there are traditions and common ways of doing things simply because it works best that way, but you can create your wedding to look and feel however you would like it to. Get creative!

How long will it take to plan our wedding?

Put simply, weddings can take from 4 months to a year to plan. The time it takes to plan a wedding depends on the couple and their other commitments (e.g. work and family), the size of the wedding and whether or not your have a wedding planner. If you are planning your wedding yourself and have a big workload, you may want to allow yourself some extra time to take the pressure off. What is the best time of the year to get married?

The most popular times of the year to get married are in Spring and Autumn, largely due to the weather during these seasons. No one wants to have to wipe the sweat off their upper lip before kissing the bride (again, we’ve seen it before!!). When choosing the date of your wedding, it is important to think about the weather, as well as the length of your engagement and the availability of your preferred venue, caterers, photographer and other vendors.
