How to style your wedding in 3 simple steps

1. CREATE A MOOD BOARD

When it comes to deciding on a theme for your wedding it is common to have several different styles that you may like. Often times it can be difficult to decide on one specific style and take the first leap in that direction. This is perfectly normal! Deciding your theme gives you something to base your design around, and a great way to do this is through the use of a mood board. Creating a mood board full of inspirational images in a simple collage style format is a great way to visualise your concept.

2. CHOOSE A COLOUR PALETTE

Colours play a huge roll in setting the mood for your wedding. When selecting a colour palette, one of the most common mistakes is to try and incorporate too many colours. It is best to simplify the colour selections in order to ensure that things don’t get too visually overwhelming. We suggest sticking to a maximum of 4 colours. By adhering to a more refined palette, you are able to achieve a much more cohesive style for your wedding. This will also ensure that your wedding photos will look amazing while also reflecting the style that you have chosen.

When selecting your wedding colour palette we recommend choosing at least 2 colours that are neutral (ie. white and grey). Then select one or two (at most) feature colours that will be used in the smaller details (ie. blush napkins, stationery). Once you are happy with the colours you have selected, feel free to add an extra pop of colour through the use of florals! Choosing floral arrangements that will compliment your existing palette is another way to add interest and overall depth to your design!

3. MATCH YOUR STYLE TO YOUR VENUE

One crucial thing that brides to be often forget when planning the style of their wedding is the style venue that they have chosen. For example planning a ‘Gold Glamour’ wedding at a beach venue isn’t going to be the most cohesive from a style point of view. It is best to consider what the features of the venue are so that your concept ties in with the location. If you are a bride that doesn’t know their venue, it is still important to keep in mind which venues will tie in with your scheme.

Some elements to take note of at a venue include things like what materials have been used, i.e. if there are a lot of timber elements, that would work well with a more rustic style wedding. As opposed to a venue that has luxe chandeliers, which would suit more of the gold glamour theme.

By including things in your design that will tie in with the elements of the venue will ensure that your wedding looks great!
