This week we hung out with Ashleigh from Lujo Hair and Makeup in Teneriffe, Brisbane who did the hair and makeup for our latest styled photoshoot Palm Spring. Ashleigh chatted to us about the current trends in bridal hair and make up and gave brides some tips for making their hair and makeup last throughout a long wedding day. How did you create the look for the Palm Spring Photoshoot? 
“I incorporated silvers, dark browns and cooler tones with some blacks and a nice deep lip which is becoming quite popular. The hair was a glam wave so it was quite simple but really effective and stays all day.”

In your opinion, what is trending at the moment in bridal hair and makeup?
“There are two different styles that are trending at the moment. There is the glam and the boho. Down styles are taking over and we did the glam wave for the styled photoshoot so you guys are on point with that trend. The glam wave is a structured wave that looks really polished but still allows the bride to have their hair down and have it stay all day. The other popular style is the boho look which is normally quite textured, with a low bun so really simple but really effective and allows the bride to shine without the hairstyle getting in the way. Makeup-wise you’re sticking around your neutral tones, champagnes, browns, nudes and a popping highlighter is always good.”

Do you have any tips and ticks for brides to help them make sure their hair and makeup lasts all day?
“In preparation, ask your questions. If you’re concerned about your hairstyle not lasting, you can work with your hairstylist and choose a style that she/he can guarantee will last all day. Also make sure your hair is set properly before its actually styled so always get a good blow dry and use product. Makeup wise, make sure you’re using a really good setting spray. That will really help because most of them are water proof. Also pack those makeup essentials so you can touch up during the day so maybe a powder, lipstick and anything else you think you might need.”
