The next stop of our destination series finds us on the outskirts of Florence at a historical Tuscan wine estate called Villa Medicea Di Lilliano.
I am not one to have favourites, however after seeing this venue for myself and staying in one of its beautiful Villas, I can say that from my experience, Villa Medicea Di Lilliano is the most beautiful wedding venue in Florence. Just a short 30 minute drive from the centre of Florence, the Villa provides the perfect location for a destination wedding in Italy.
The journey from Florence to Villa Medicea Di Lillano is beautiful. The drive boasts views of endless olive groves, vineyards and the stunning skyline of Florence. When I arrived at the estate I was amazed at the history, tradition and the natural beauty that surrounds the Villa. The Villa was traditionally used as a look-out tower and quaint farmhouse, however since then, the Villa has been beautifully restored to become the sought after wedding venue it is today.
The venue has 6 villas and a variety of private areas around the property that can be used for any size wedding. If you are planning a big wedding, the whole venue can be booked exclusively for you and your guests or if you are planning a smaller wedding, particular areas of the venue can be booked between November and April.
Your wedding at Villa Medicea Di Lilliano
Villa Medicea Di Lilliano truly is a stunning venue for any bride dreaming of having a destination wedding in Tuscany. Whether you are dreaming of an outdoor wedding in the garden or an indoor wedding in a historical banquet hall, you will find the perfect space at Villa Medicea Di Lilliano.
Medici Villa Garden
The gardens at Medici Villa are green and spacious. Within the gardens there are multiple places to set up your ceremony and/or reception. Whether you would prefer to use the lawn, the central walkway, or get married by the ancient fountain at the end of the garden, you will enjoy stunning views overlooking the Tuscan countryside. Looking back on the pictures myself, I cannot help but daydream about going back to experience the serenity of this landscape again. The garden is the largest space available for weddings at the Villa, with a capacity of up to 600 guests for a cocktail setting.
Limonaia Banquet Hall
The Limonaia Banquet Hall is the ideal indoor reception space at Medicea Villa Di Lilliano. The Banquet Hall is a light-filled and versatile space, almost like a blank canvas ready to be styled to suit any wedding. The Hall can be used for a cocktail setting for up to 240 people, or a banquet setting for up to 160 people.
Medici Villa Terrace
The Medici Villa Terrace is personally one of my favourite wedding spaces at the Villa. After entering the venue through large traditional double doors, you walk through pristine gardens and travel upstairs to the terrace to be met by the most spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside and the iconic skyline of Florence. The Terrace has can host up to 220 guests for a cocktail setting or up to 100 guest for a sit down dinner. If you are looking for a traditional al fresco dinner for your wedding, this may just be the perfect space for you.
Granaio Banquet Room
The Granaio Banquet Room is suitable for a slightly smaller wedding of up to 100 guests for a sit down dinner. With exposed wooden beams, timber ceiling and terracotta flooring, this room is just waiting to be styled for your wedding.
Limonaia Courtyard
The Limonaia courtyard is another option for your wedding at Villa Medicea Di Lilliano. The courtyard is surrounded by the historical walls of the Villa and is perfect for a bride who is looking for a more intimate wedding reception.
Limonaia Terrace
The Limonia Terrace is another garden space that can be used for your ceremony and/or al fresco reception. The garden overlooks the picturesque Tuscan landscape with a capacity to host up to 230 guests.
Cortile Room
The Cortile Room is charming antique room featuring a historical vaulted ceiling and traditional Tuscan architecture. The room can be used for a smaller reception setting of up to 60 people for a sit down dinner.
Accommodation
There are multiple villas available for you and your guests to stay before and after your wedding. The villas are large and spacious, with a traditional style and modern comforts.
La Corte Villa is found at the heart of the Wine Estate and has five suites, together accommodating up to 12 people. La Corte Villa is perfect for you and your bridesmaids or close family to stay as you prepare for your wedding day together.
The La Torre Villas are another beautiful accommodation option for your wedding guests. There are five La Torre Villas which share a central courtyard, pool, and garden with stunning views overlooking Florence. The largest of the villas is Villa Clementina, with the unique feature of the bedroom being located within the historical watch tower with 360 degree views as well as a private, ancient wine cellar.
